Maths and English Teacher in Southall

Hello! I am Tavleen and I love teaching and helping children from every backgrounds. I am a Phonics Teacher and teaching assistant who teaches phonics under the guidelines of Ruth Misin platform plus helping the class with their learning. I worked closely with children's behaviour so I can build strong relationship with them.
My degree in Business Studies helped me gain knowledge in areas like marketing, finance, and management. I use these skills to bring real-world examples into the classroom and show students how these concepts apply to their lives.
In conclusion, my passion for teaching burns bright, and I am eager to ignite that same fire in the hearts of my future students.

Tutoring Experience

I have 4 years of experience working with children. Additional, I worked with SEN, Dyslexia, ADHA children which gives me a knowledge of how to work and understand the child. I used different resources such a reading ruler, semantics, Lego therapy, bucket time, reading intervention to help the child with their learning.

In Key Stage 1, I help students transition into more structured learning while I still incorporate elements of play and creativity. I assist with phonics, numeracy, and literacy activities, and I provide individual or small-group support to ensure each child's progress. For Early Years, I use visual cues to help them understand routines and expectations. I also implement strategies like redirection, offering choices, or providing sensory breaks when needed. While dealing with behavioural issues I remember each child is unique, and what works for one may not work for another. When it comes to dealing with behaviour challenges in students with SEN, I've encountered various behaviours from students with different needs, such as autism, ADHD, or learning needs. When working with these students, it's important to approach their behaviour with understanding and empathy.

I make sure to familiarise myself with their individual needs and any specific strategies that may be helpful. To handle such behaviour issues, I often use visual support or social stories to help students understand expectations and routines. I also provide a structured and supportive environment, with clear and consistent routines, to help them feel secure and reduce anxiety.

Tutoring Approach

First off, I try to really get what the student needs. I figure out what they already know, what they're good at, and where they're struggling. It's all about pinpointing those areas where they need a boost.

Next, I set some clear goals. I like to have a plan for each session, so we both know what we're aiming for. It helps keep us on track and makes sure we're making progress.

Then, I break things down into smaller, easier-to-handle pieces. I create a lesson plan that makes sense and builds on itself. I might use different ways to explain things, like showing pictures, doing activities, or giving real-world examples, so the student can really get it. I want them to actively participate by asking questions and explaining stuff back to me.

I give feedback that's helpful and positive. I point out what they're doing well and give them ideas on how to improve. I try to be patient and create a safe space where they feel okay asking questions and making mistakes. I make sure to go back and review things we've already covered, so they don't forget. And, of course, I adjust my pace to match their learning style.

Ultimately, I try to connect everything to real life, so it's not just abstract stuff. That's how I make tutoring effective and fun!
