Hi all, my name is Tayeb. I am a qualified teacher and experienced private tutor working within Luton. I am enthusiastic about the work that I do and pride myself in being able to support our future leaders. I have a good track record of building positive relationships with my tutees and supporting them develop into more independent learners.
I am very approachable and friendly and in my free time enjoy reading, gaming (mainly FIFA), learning new skills, playing sports and spending time with family and friends.
I am currently working as a Qualified Teacher of Deaf Children and Young People (QTOD) within a specialist provision. I have nearly 10 years of experience as a qualified teacher, having taught across all primary phases, both within mainstream classrooms and in my specialised field. I also have nearly 10 years of experience as a tutor, supporting children across age groups from 5 to 16.
My specialism is Maths and I have held a number of job roles within the schools I have worked in. I have, in the past, been a class teacher, head of year, computing lead and Maths lead before becoming a QTOD. Over the years, I have had the privilege of supporting children through their SATS and with completing their Maths GCSE.
My teaching approach is centred around the needs of the children and young people I am working with. I believe every child is different and learns in different ways, so being adaptable is key to supporting their learning effectively.
I have, from a young age, had a passion for teaching and after doing youth work part time whilst studying, came straight into teaching after university. My experiences with my own education and with the children I have worked with over the years, have shown me the importance of building positive relationships, understanding different learning approaches and catering lessons to be more specific and individualised to the child you are working with.
I start by initially asking both the child I am working with and their adult, what their desired outcome from the tutoring is and also what they believe are their strengths and weaknesses. I would then, either informally or formally (child dependent), baseline the child to assess their level and area of need. This would then help inform what areas I should focus on.
I ensure I am using appropriate scaffolding for my tutees and also try to make learning as fun and engaging as possible, to support retention of new information.
