Hello! My name is Tejas and i am 18 years old. I have completed my A levels in october recently and I plan on studying medicine at the University of Nottingham. At the age of 10, I sat my 11 plus exams and successfully got into all 7 of my grammar schools I applied to including Tiffin School ( the school i went to), Sutton grammar, Queen Elizabeth, Reading School, Slough and Langley. As a result, I am quite experienced in the 11plus process and understand the difficulty and the hard work that must be put in. Having completed my GCSE's in 2018 I achieved 10A* and 2A and this allowed me to continue into the Tiffin School 6th form. For me, teaching others is something I genuinely enjoy. Seeing the child progress through the lessons and improving their confidence is something that is an invaluable experience and makes me happy. I have a lot of experience working with children in a extra-curricular setting too while being a tennis assistant coach which i have enjoyed a lot.
I have been teaching people in my local area for the past year including a child from year 5 trying to get into Hampton School. I also have been tutoring my sister for the last 2 years who is currently sitting her 11plus exams and attempting to enter Tiffin Girls. This is adavantageous for me as a tutor as the 11plus exam questions and styles are very familiar to me.
My teaching approach is reflective of the excellent teaching I have recieved from Tiffin Grammar School. I understand that each child is different and think in different ways and have different levels of abilities. As a result, I always start my first lessons with a short baseline test to help me understand the strengths and weaknesses of the student. In the following lessons we focus on specific topics and I ensure that I regularly ask questions on the spot as it is vital to ensure the student is actively engaged. I strongly agree that the tutoring lesson is the tip of the iceberg and that the hours put in outside the lesson where students may struggle on their own especially in these unprecedented times. Therefore, If there are any homework questions/practise questions that the student struggles with I am always willing to help out! I myself was a struggling student during my GCSEs and I want to show students that they can have fun and find it enojable with their chosen subjects while also getting the best grades they can achieve.
