I am a social scientist with a PhD in Anthropology from the London School of Economics (2020). My research spans multiple disciplines within the social sciences (ranging from sociology, history, political science and critical political economy to Science and Technology Studies, African Studies, Gender and Religious Studies) and examines how people navigate complex social, economic, and technological challenges in diverse global contexts. I have conducted extensive fieldwork across different cultural settings and have collaborated with interdisciplinary teams including computer scientists, social workers, and healthcare professionals. My work has been published across a range of world-leading journals in the social sciences, and I have two book manuscripts under contract with Bloomsbury and Berghahn Books. I have also contributed to policy research for government committees and the NHS.
I bring over five years of intensive university-level teaching experience at King's College London and the London School of Economics. I have convened courses of 120-140 undergraduate and graduate students, giving lectures, leading classes and seminars, setting assessments and examining them. My teaching portfolio has included core sociological and anthropological theory, qualitative research methods and research design, as well as specialist courses in politics and law; religion and shamanism; kinship, gender, and sexuality. I have mentored 15-25 students a year, training undergraduate students in core study skills, supervising graduate dissertation projects, advising doctoral students on research project design and interdisciplinary forms of evidence-based argumentation. My pedagogical excellence was recognized through a nomination for an Excellent Feedback and Communication Award from the LSE Student Union. Students I have supervised have gone on to secure fully funded PhDs at prestigious institutions including LSE and Oxford, as well as positions in the technology industry.
Hence, I am well positioned to assist students with a broad range of tasks, aims and objectives, which include:
• Essay and dissertation planning, structuring, and organization
• Copy-editing, paraphrasing, and refining academic writing for clarity, coherence, and argument strength
• Literature review development and systematic review techniques
• Research methodology guidance for qualitative approaches
• Framing research projects and identifying contributions to scholarship, policy and practice
• Critical analysis skills and evidence evaluation, data analysis support using qualitative data analysis software such as NVIVO
• Time and stress management strategies
• Citation formatting and bibliography management
• Manuscript preparation for academic publication
• Academic presentation skills and poster design
• Thesis and dissertation methodology development
• University application support including personal statements
• Interview preparation for academic and professional opportunities
• PhD supervision and viva voce examination preparation
• Writing efficiency techniques and word count management
• Research proposal development across disciplines
• Exam preparation
My teaching philosophy centres on creating engaging, inclusive learning environments where students become active partners in the educational process. I believe in connecting theoretical concepts to real-world applications and contemporary issues, drawing from lived experience to bring abstract ideas to life. Whether teaching A-level students, undergraduates, or graduate students, I adapt my approach to meet diverse learning needs and encourage critical thinking through dialogue rather than didactic instruction.
I emphasize collaborative learning, encouraging students to co-design their educational experience while providing structured support through detailed feedback, regular check-ins, and flexible communication methods. My approach is informed by decolonial and anti-racist pedagogical principles, ensuring diverse perspectives are represented and all students feel valued and supported. I incorporate innovative teaching methods including debates and practical applications that help students connect academic material to their own experiences and career goals. I am open not just to one-to-one tutoring, but also group-based arrangements which make tutoring more accessible while creating space for peer learning and discussion.
