I am married with two adult children and so have a knowledge of children's changing needs and the challenges they face as they progress through both the primary and secondary sector.

Tutoring Experience

I have over 30 years experience in the primary sector and have worked with pupils at all stages and in all primary subjects. In addition, I have taught children with a range of additional support needs. I have a particular interest in and experience of working with senior pupils and have extensive experience of teaching and preparing P7 pupils for transition to high school.

Tutoring Approach

I feel that it is vital to form a good relationship with children and to know their strengths and weaknesses. I would perform initial diagnostic tests and then create a programme of work tailored to their needs. Relating to parents/carers is key to helping children and I would endeavour to form a good partnership with them, giving regular updates and ideas about how they too can support their child.
