I teach mainly saxophone and jazz piano. I have been a freelance jazz musician for nearly 20 years - working with many highly regarded UK artists in performing, recording, producing and educating. I care deeply about releasing people's potential and enthusiasm in performing arts. I have worked on many instruments and bring a broad and also natural musical approach to all my work - with lots of fun and enthusiam too.
I will also take enquiries from people seeking a tutor in theological education. I have a BA, and MA and a PhD in Theology, and have a wide ranging grasp of the field and an ability to engage creatively with people My theological work has been published by Fortress Academic.
I have 19 years of experience as a highly regarded professional jazz multi-instrumental performer, recording artist, session musician. I have taught peripatetic piano, saxophone, clarinet, and flugelhorn at secondary school level; I have taught many private pupils - children and adults; I am a jazz saxophone tutor at Morley College, London and teach from beginner to advanced level.
Re theology, I am a priest in the Church of England with experience teaching young people and adults theology across a wide variety of courses, from A-level to undergrad and graduate, as well as developing theology-in-ministry courses for the Dioceses of London and Rochester.
I believe music education is about tutor and pupil working together, rather than teaching in a top-down fashion. I teach as an experienced performer and educator who cares about you being able to make the music you want to make. I have highly adaptable teaching methods geared towards your learning style and the music you love, and work hard to make sure that you are able to learn in the way that best suits you. I think kindness and enthusiasm go a long way when it comes to education, and will always seek to encourage and enthuse. Please get in touch for a chat - no pressure!
Re Theology, the same approach goes, really - I am open minded, thoughtful and care about you being able to engage with the field in a way that is fruitful and positive for you. I do not believe in forcing my own perspective on others!
