Hi, I'm Timothy and I am 18 years old. I am an aspiring medical student and have just completed my A-Levels in Chemistry, Biology, Maths and Religious Studies. I specialise mostly in Chemistry and Maths tutoring and to back this up I have attained a consistent A* predicted grade for Chemistry and I was awarded my complete Maths A-Level last year after studying it for one year and I attained an A*. I have helped my fellow peers in their studies in tutor groups and would like to expand this to other students. As an aspiring medical student I understand how difficult it can be to study towards important exams and I wish to help out students in the same position I have been in :)
I have been a part of my school tutor group to help fellow peers and also I have extra-curricular teaching experience in music, in which I have taught my peers in piano to play for audiences.
My approach to tutoring is mainly focused on explanation and lots of practice with past papers especially, so the student can take this into their revision. Because of this, I structure my lessons in typical 2 hour bursts on specific topics within a subject- e.g. Lattice Enthalpy in Chemistry. The first hour consists of explanation and note-taking and the second on practice questions with the last 20 minutes being on what I refer to as feedback. This essentially is revisiting the notes and adding some of the practice paper techniques and is vital in improving exam technique with a quick synopsis of the lesson.
