I am a teacher from Belfast with three years experience teaching Junior School, GCSE, and A-Level classes. I studied Medicinal Chemistry at Trinity College Dublin and then I completed a PGCE at Queen's University Belfast to become qualified as a teacher. I am an engaging and energetic educator and I prioritise building relationships with pupils as this is crucial for meaningful education to occur.
I am very personable and get on quickly with people very quickly. I've worked abroad several times and this skills have often come in handy. I am a fluent Irish speaker and have taught Maths and the three Sciences in both Irish and English environments.
I am passionate about the outdoors and ecology, setting up an Eco Club at my current school. I find it deeply satisfying to nurture children's and young adults' passion for the environment
I have been teaching and giving grinds ever since I was a teenager and I have helped many students significantly improve their understanding and achievement in that time.
After I got my undergraduate degree in Medicinal Chemistry I qualified as a Science teacher in 2019 and I have been teaching Science and Maths full-time since then. I have taught all ages, all class sizes, and all abilities. I developed my online teaching skills during the covid lockdowns and I completed a stage of professional development on effective distance learning practices.
In our initial sessions I will focus on helping you with whatever you are covering currently in class so that we can get you feeling more confident at school as quickly as possibly. After that we will move on to what is coming up next in your course. This is so that you will be able to take in more of what your teacher says when you move on to the next topic without getting lost. All the while, we will do a mix of concept understanding and practicing questions and past paper questions (GCSE and A-Level).
