Tutoring Experience

I have 33 years experience in a primary school setting. The last 15 years I have worked as a HLTA across KS1 and 2. I have taught all ages but particularly specialise in Key stage 2 and SATS preparation. I have experience in 1-1 tuition in the lead up to SATS. Assessing the child’s gaps and devising lessons that would help the child move on to the next steps.
I have delivered booster sessions to small groups of children and provided instant interventions for those students who needed more time for them to grasp a concept. I have also taught whole classes Maths, English, Reading and grammar as well as non core subjects.

Tutoring Approach

I am patient and friendly and would make my lessons interesting, relevant and interactive. I am able to model and scaffold and aim to keep the learning fun. I have a bank of resources that would enhance the learning. I would start by assessing the gaps in learning and devise my lessons around that to help the child move on to the next steps. I aim to keep things simple to show children that they are capable of a high performance. Having worked with SEN children I have developed my strategies to cater for all needs.
