I am PGCE qualified English teacher with 8 years of classroom experience and 13 years of tutoring experience. I have also completed a CELTA and teach English online to children and adults around the world.

I love teaching and have extensive experience of teaching in the UK to exam board and national curriculum specifications, as well as examining for different exam boards.

I specialise in teaching English Language and Literature to exam board specifications for both GCSE and A Level. I also have experience of teaching and examining for Media Studies at A Level and offer tutoring at this level too.

In my personal life I love to travel, walk and hike, and read. I run a book club where I introduce readers to a diverse selection of books.

My tutoring hours are currently online and flexible to include daytime and evening hours Monday - Thursday, as well as possible hours on the weekend.

Tutoring takes place online for now, although future sessions will be available in person in a space free from any distractions in Greenwich / southeast London.

Tutoring Experience

I have over 15 years of experience in teaching English and Media Studies.
I have taught English in UK schools: KS3, GCSE and A Level, both English Language and English Literature, across exam boards. I have also taught Media Studies at A Level. I have been an examiner for all three subjects. Since the start of my teaching career I have tutored students in these subjects, and more recently I haver tutored online as well as teaching EFL.

I have also worked in HE supporting students with their academic and research skills, from defining research topics to finding the right resources to produce high quality well informed academic essays.

Tutoring Approach

I am always professional and encouraging in my approach. I like to set goals with the student at the start of the tutoring journey, both to understand the student’s current position and to determine what progress needs to be made. I prepare sessions with these goals in mind and provide correction, feedback and suitable targets along the way to ensure the students can achieve to the best of their potential.

The initial session will work as an assessment in order to fully understand your child's needs in their subject area and level, in particular their reading and writing skills, and to determine how to proceed in their tutoring sessions. Following sessions will focus on these skills areas, developing their expertise and reinforcing learning to ensure they get plenty of practice to hone their skills.

I set high standards for myself and my students, and believe the right teaching approach and commitment makes achievement possible for all students, whatever their current level. I believe differentiation is important and work with the student in a way that supports their learning style and needs. I also have experience working with students with diverse learning needs and SEN and I'm happy to discuss these with you.
