I have been the Head of the Biology Department in two top UK HMC independent schools and currently run a very successful department within a top independent school in Wiltshire. Our results are far above the national average with students gaining 90% 9-7 at GCSE level and 1 in 5 students typically gain an A* at A-level. I have been tutoring for the last 12 years with excellent results. I hold two Science Degrees, Qualified Teaching Status and have also worked extensively outside of teaching.
I regularly attend exam board training days run by chief examiners and thus have an excellent knowledge of what the boards are looking for within examinations.
I can tutor Biology for all exam boards at all levels.
I am finding more and more that parents and students are being let down by their schools (especially in the Sixth form) and I have been able to provide families with advice about how to proceed with gaining access to exam scripts, doing resits, asking for re-marks, dealing with predicted grades as well as providing university advice. I am more than happy to provide general advice as part of my specific tuition in Biology.
Inj recent years, I successfully challenged EDEXCEL on many re-marked scripts and in every instance I was successful, receiving a formal apology from the exam board and an increased grade for every student represented.
I have tutored students who often come from schools where class sizes are excessively large or teachers are constantly coming and going. In many cases, I've found there is a casual indifference towards students in many of the schools that my tutees come from. One-to-one tuition can make all of the difference to a student who is struggling or is simply looking for an opportunity to improve their understanding of the subject.
I am the Head of the Biology Department in a top UK independent school and have been teaching for over twenty years (15 of which have been as Head of Department). I have been Head of Department at a top independent London day school for 4 years and current hold the same post at another leading independent school in Wiltshire. I regularly attend exam board training days run by chief examiners and thus have an excellent knowledge of what the boards are looking for within examinations.
I offer online tuition and I have a lot of experience using online teaching and learning platforms. In the last year I tutored a student online who had a D at A level and required a B to get into Dentistry at a Russell Group university. This student gained an A grade after tuition. I have many of my own resources that have been made specifically for A-level and GCSE-level Biology that can provide students with a 'cutting edge' that they are likely to be missing at their own schools. I can provide the required content for all examinations but most importantly, I can coach students how to provide the answers that the examination board are looking for as well.
