Hello, my name is Vasilis and I am extremely passionate in teaching and share my knowlesge with my students. I am currently working as a teacher of Greek in a secondary school in London, I have lots of experience in teaching Greek but the most important part is that I love what I am doing. I have been teaching Greek in an intermediate level for 5 years. I work in a Greek community school in north London which gave me the experience of working with younger students in a primary level. In addition I have been working as a tutor for adult learners since I came in UK. I went to the Democritus university of Thrace and studied pedagogy and I did my masters in special education in Cyprus.
I have 5 years experience of teaching Maths, English, History, Classics and Spanish in 1:1 and a group setting. More specifically, I have taught the above subjects in small groups and 1:1 sessions with primary school children. I have worked with all the age range from 6 to 11 years old. In my career as a tutor I have dealt with difficult SEN cases of students and I have offered support. More specifically I have worked and seen progress in students with autism and severe learning difficulties. I have also helped a student with learning difficulties raise his grades and pass his exams when he was commited that he will fail.
In general, I try to encourage the student and make things easier and funny. I have high and realistic expectations of every student, to enable them to reach their full potential and behave in a suitable manor. At the start of each topic, I ask open-ended questions to allow me to find out what the student already knows about a topic and from this I plan where I should take it from and which areas of learning need extending. I use powerpoint and material that I create and adjust to each student's needs and targets.
