Hello, my name is Veronica and I am of Venezuelan origin and therefore a native speaker of Spanish. I am educated to Masters level in Civil Engineering and due to starting a family I am planning to retrain as a teacher next year, thus I am seeking part time online tutoring work to gain experience.
I am familiar with all aspects of the Spanish language as an educated native speaker, and am a calm, warm and friendly person who enjoys teaching and learning. I am familiar with the requirements of GCSE Spanish courses and therefore able to provide a high quality learning experience, breaking down the language into understandable chunks whereby students can master the key skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening. In particular, as a native speaker, the opportunity for students to converse with me in invaluable in developing listening and speaking skills.
As a career changer I currently have experience of tutoring friends' children and several adult learners. In due course I will be undertaking a few weeks work experience in a local school in order to begin the journey of becoming a teacher.
My teaching approach involves slow, measured breaking down of content into themed bite-size chunks, focusing on the key skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening and gradually building them up in students. Once learned, practice and repetition ensures the knowledge is absorbed by the student. With an emphasis on speaking and listening and having everyday conversations about topics/themes that interest the student, rapid progress can be made.
