I am an ex primary school teacher with 30 years experience in both the Independent and maintained sectors. I am able to support pupils up to 11 years old in all at areas of the Primary school curriculum. I have experience of teaching SATs and reinforcing key skills. I am able to support your child with homework or class work issues to give them a confidence boost!
Having worked in the Independent sector I have an excellent understanding of the Grammar School Entrance Examination system and am able to coach children in these skills. I also offer interview practice.
Over the years I have also worked with pupils with dyslexia, ADHD, dyscalculia and autism.
In 30 years of teaching I have worked in a number of schools and taught 1000s of children from 4 to 11 years old. I have a excellent understanding and knowledge of the EYFS and National Curriculum for KS1 and 2 as well as the ways in which different children learn.
I have many years of tutoring experience and always aim to make my teaching fun, exciting and matched to the needs of the individual. A session is likely to consist of several short burst activities to keep the pupil's interest; these may be written, oral or computer based. Games to practise or reinforce skills can form a large part of the session and often the child doesn't even realise that they are learning!
