Hello, I am a patient and supportive Biology and Chemistry tutor. I have recently gained a BSc. in Natural Sciences and plan to go on to postgraduate study. I work with children and young people, in other settings and I have undergone an enhanced DBS check.

Tutoring Experience

I have three years of experience tutoring students one-to-one in Biology and Chemistry at GCSE and A Levels. My students have successfully improved their grades and gone on to study the subjects of their choice at A level or university.

Tutoring Approach

I offer my students tailored, interactive, and well-planned lessons, based on ability and need. My teaching style changes to suit the individual. Lessons typically include a mixture of teaching using engaging visual resources, discussion, and working on practice questions together. Students may like to ask me to focus on topics they find most difficult or I can provide sessions that systematically cover the appropriate syllabus and prepare for exams.
A caring, supportive manner and offering praise for hard work or attainment are central to my approach. I strive to make students feel at ease so they can tell me when they don’t understand. I encourage students to interact so that they engage with the material and so I can test their understanding.

I am also happy to assist students to set specific goals and to advise them on their study methods or revision strategies. Students are often unaware of how to study or make proper use of resources and so a little time spent on this can be invaluable.
