I am a qualified teacher with over 20 years teaching experience. I have always loved teaching children as I enjoy being creative and get a real buzz out of watching children succeed. I have a current enhanced DBS and up-to-date knowledge of the National Curriculum and the age related expectations. I offer individual face-to-face tuition in Bury or alternatively online tuition, for which I currently have tutees throughout the UK.
Former independent school teacher with proven success at preparing students for 11+ entrance examinations CEM & GL (English, Maths, Verbal and Non-verbal Reasoning) in addition to some schools who set their own format. I prepare students thoroughly to sit their examinations and once they have successfully passed the exam, I also help to support and prepare them for the interview. This year's successes include Withington Girls' School, Manchester High, Bolton School, Bury Grammar, Oldham Hulme Grammar, Royal Grammar Newcastle & Trafford 11+ schools.
20 years teaching experience, in both primary and secondary independent and state schools, I now work full-time as a private tutor, with excellent references.
Excellent teaching knowledge, especially in English and Maths, gained from working with pupils in KS1, KS2 and KS3.
I deliver engaging and challenging lessons, specifically tailored to the needs of my students and supported by homework and assessment if desired.
As a former Deputy Head of Languages, I also offer French up to GCSE.
Pupil parents and pupils have praised my teaching style, find it very easy to build a positive working relationship with me and have been delighted with the results.
I am professional, articulate and flexible in my approach to teaching and have proven success in helping students to pass exams and improve their grades.
I would be delighted to help with your tutoring needs.
I am an enthusiastic and engaging private tutor specialising in supporting primary children and preparing pupils for 11+ entrance exams. I take time to build a positive working bond with my tutees in order to identify the best techniques to help your child. I have great patience and adaptability which enables me to work with learners of all abilities - I can inspire the reluctant learner, motivate and encourage those who may be struggling and I can stretch and challenge the more able learner. My lessons are tailored to the individual learner and I try to make lessons both fun and challenging. Wherever possible, I create tasks which link to their interests in order to maximise engagement. I look to increase confidence and to push the learner to discovering a new skill as well as strengthening existing skills. There is no feeling better than seeing someone realise they can do something new and then want to learn the next step.
Recently, I have seen an increase in demand for booster lessons especially in creative writing and grammar. Happily, I have found myself in demand for as I seem to have a way of helping children to activate their imaginations.
In maths, my quirky techniques for remembering the key calculation methods help my tutees to not only learn but retain maths skills.
