I am an experienced, enthusiastic and caring GCSE Chemistry tutor and mentor who is passionate about every student reaching their full potential. I believe that by developing transferrable skills, students can improve outcomes in any area they decide to focus on.

Tutoring Experience

I have over 10 years of teaching and tutoring experience and cover AQA, OCR, Edexcel, International Edexcel and Cambridge IGCSE exam boards and use a variety of teaching resources and materials. I tutor students based in the UK and those who study in international schools abroad. All my students saw a step change in their Chemistry grades and many surpassed their initial aspirations for GCSE results.

I pursued my interests in science, education and language through various roles in the UK and abroad; as a visiting scholar with University of Toronto, in the field of science publishing with Reed Elsevier in New York and marketing career in IBM UK. I held teaching positions and tutored in the UK, Europe and the US.

Tutoring Approach

Whether a student needs help with understanding key concepts, aims to improve the grade, or requires that final stretch to reach top marks, I discuss their needs and develop a personal learning plan to achieve their goals.

I appreciate that some concepts might be difficult to grasp at first therefore I help students develop confidence, improve weaker areas or broaden their knowledge. I build rapport with my students very quickly and strive to instil curiosity about the subject which helps their motivation.

For GCSE exams, I work on developing exam technique skills and include past exam questions in every topic taught to ensure students can successfully tackle various question types and are familiar with the format and difficulty of each curriculum questions well before their exams.

During the initial meeting, we will discuss what success would look like, assess what level you are working at and select the topic to be taught and how I can best help you achieve your aims. In the course of lessons, you will receive regular reports on your progress, while learning will be assessed by regular quizzes and exam questions to help ensure you are on track.
