I have spent most of my career teaching in Shropshire in an 11-16 school. I am passionate about my subject and love to share this with my students, encouraging them to be curious, to read about Business for pleasure and to show them that Business, in some form, will be in their life forever!
I have been teaching for 25 years and have been Head of Department for 20 years. Whilst I have taught both Law and Economics along with several different Business courses, my expertise lies with the AQA GCSE specification.
My approach is to firstly analyse areas of strengths and weaknesses to draw up a plan of action for success for each student. The main focus is to work on how to apply knowledge to case studies developing knowledge along the way on different areas of the spec. Once confidence is built on how to deal with the context of the case studies, the focus can shift to developing the skills of analysis and evaluation. With extensive experience of the spec and having spent some time as an examiner, I pride myself on use of exam technique to maximise time in the exam and potential marks gained.
