Approachable and cheerful, teaching has been my passion since I qualified in 2016. I live in sunny Norfolk with my cockapoo (Murphy) and elderly cat (Daisy). I love the great outdoors and nothing suits me better than spending a day on my allotment or walking around the beautiful countryside on my doorstep. I began studying for a history and sociology degree in 2015, choosing the subjects I most enjoyed. I loved the academic atmosphere so much that I stayed on to complete my PGCE in 2016 and feel like I have found my calling. My favourite thing about teaching is helping to empower others with the tools they need to fulfil their potential and realise their hopes and dreams.
I have been a primary teacher for the past six years, teaching maths, English, Geography, history and science to mainly upper key stage 2 children. I have been history lead and love sourcing new, exciting ways to present this subject. During my qualifying year I taught History and sociology on an access to HE course, which would be an equivalent A level. Shortly after qualifying I also spent some time teaching History and sociology on long term supply to KS3 and KS4.
I generally build my lessons and teaching style around good solid resources that tend to hook the learner. I believe that slowly building on skills from identification and describing to predicting and contrasting. I like to take the learner through processes step by step, underpinning their knowledge with examples and evidence. I believe that people learn best when they're enjoying their studies and to this end I endeavour to assure that the atmosphere and surroundings are relaxed and informal
