I am a French native speaker, who moved to the United Kingdom in 2020. Originally from Limoges, where I studied a degree in English with « FLE » optional course (Français Langue Étrangère /
French as Foreign Language). My degree is based on languages, literature and
civilisations, with an optional course to become a French teacher abroad. I wanted to work abroad and use my knowledge acquired at university to the right audience.
I started working as a French Language Assistant at Sevenoaks School, from 2020 to 2022, and I am currently working in the same role at Charterhouse School, as well as now being a teacher for Y9 bilingual pupils.
My role consisted and still consists of teaching Year 12 & 13 students (A Levels & IB) by creating conversation lessons and animating a French Bilingual Club. I also assist teachers with their Y11 students for their GCSE oral exams. The aim of my role is to promote students' cultural knowledge, improve their pronunciation and mainly prepare them for their oral exams.
In my spare time, I also started given private lessons since my arrival in the UK and I have now developed my tutoring network with +100 hours of experience.
My teaching approach is to target my students difficulties with certain aspects of the French language and give them tools to improve their speaking level by strengthening memorisation and learning. I use the exam structures to create my lessons so my students develop their way of working more efficiently but also it boosts their confidence. I use a wide range of resources (photos, videos, texts...) to stimulate my students' interest.
