Hi, I’m Will, I have a love for learning and teaching, I often dedicate myself to learning things that are extracurricular to my A levels, out of simple fascination. It is this love for learning and sharing information that has encouraged me to become a tutor, as I feel that I could make a difference to someone’s education and be a helping hand.
In my spare time I study computers and cybersecurity, as well as researching information related to the university courses I will be applying for.
I am an A level student, I came out of my GCSE’s with 8’s in chemistry, biology, physics, maths, religious studies and history. As an A level student, it is necessary for me to have an active understanding of GCSE content for my A levels, which are Biology, Chemistry and Maths.
At A level, GCSE content is ‘assumed knowledge’, and it is not just the foundation upon which A level knowledge is built, but failing to demonstrate an adequate understanding of this ‘Assumed Knowledge’ can be reason for deducting marks in AQA A level chemistry. Because of this, during my A levels I was constantly revising my GCSE knowledge, and feel prepared to help someone doing their GCSE chemistry or biology.
As someone who has done their GCSE’s in recent years, I feel that I understand the pressure GCSE students are under, as well as having an understanding of the course, and of exam technique. I am happy to tackle topics that you may find particularly tricky, and I will typically do so by returning to the basics, and building an understanding of the topic from a good foundation, from which we can go on to making the topic easier to understand and more digestible. And, should it suit the student, I’m quite happy to relay how knowledge you learn at GCSE is used during A levels.
Above all else, I used a tailored approach to tutoring, I understand that each individual has different strengths, weaknesses, and needs, and that the individuals seeking a tutor will be more benefited by a tailored approach to their learning than a standard regime.
