I am an experienced tutor and Cambridge graduate offering both in school and private tuition, both online and in person. I have over 8 years of experience tutoring on a full time basis, and have extensive experience with online tuition. My main subjects for tuition are Maths, Further Maths and German to GCSE and A Level. Teaching is a passion of mine, and I love to see students gain confidence in a subject they found difficult, or get to explore an area in more depth than at school. I am a firm believer in the benefits of tuition. It allows for lessons which are tailored to student’s interests, strengths and learning styles, in a more friendly but focussed environment which can dramatically their attitude, confidence and attainment in a subject.
In addition to tutoring experience, I have also worked for several years an in-school Maths tutor at various schools. In this role I have run daily additional GCSE Maths classes and led the teaching for the pure modules for the further Maths A Level. I also do occasional work as a debating coach, which is an activity I was very involved in at University.
My tutoring experience includes:
Alongside thoroughly covering syllabus material, I believe it is important to focus on key skills: for Maths, breaking down tricky concepts in as simple and intuitive a way as possible, and practising their application, for History communication, argument construction and analysis, and in the case of language tuition, confidence and fluency as well as a solid grasp of the basic grammar and vocabulary.I aim to offer lessons which provide solid, structured exam preparation which are nonetheless stimulating and intellectually rewarding for a wide range of students. I believe that the best way to do this is in a considerate way, which encourages rather than demotivates students, with a sensitivity to a lack of confidence students may have in a given subject. For online tuition, I highly recommend students have either a tablet or stylus.
