Hello, my name is Yasmin and I am a freelance English language tutor in South London/Surrey. I am a naturally warm, charismatic and friendly person with strong communication skills.
I am mixed Asian British, I was born in London and currently live in London also. I taught for the Number 1 English language school in the UK (according to British Council inspection results). I have been a teacher to large groups of 16 to 21 year old Chinese students; I have taught IELTS and Business English, young learners from the age of 4, and many Italian, Swiss, Arab and Japanese students. I strive for the utmost satisfaction and success from my students.
I have travelled around Asia - China, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia and Hong Kong, and I came back with so much experience of different cultures and nationalities and I'm so lucky to have had that experience to put into my teaching practice.
I am CELTA qualified and also have the TEFL qualification. I recently completed my IELTS teacher training workshop so am able to teach IELTS also. I have taught English in two other foreign language schools in England, as well as in summer camps, and I am now tutoring one-to-one in person and online.
I am happy to offer a free 30 minute needs assessment so you know where to focus your language learning requirements. Contact me for more info and I would love to help you in your learning!
I have been TEFL/CELTA qualified for over 10 years now.
I teach General English (speaking, writing, reading and listening, plus grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation) to students from different walks of life - whether they are at university, a grandparent, a mature student, an individual wanting to live in an English speaking country, or a child needing to pass an entry exam. I also have experience in teaching a wide range of nationalities, although I do have specialist experience in teaching Italian students, and improving fluency, confidence building and accuracy in speaking for Chinese students. I also teach IELTS.
I like to arrange day trips to help students practise their new language skills; I also enjoy making lessons interactive and a pleasure to learn by organising games and activities such as Charades, Pictionary, board races, and role plays.
I love teaching English, it is my passion to help students progress. I am patient, calm, approachable and friendly, yet I am focused on achieving the results that my students need.
I assess my students to make sure there is structure to their learning and focus activities on their interests. I like to work with games as well as lesson plans.
I find teaching very rewarding. I like to develop a good rapport with all my students. I enjoy using a range of course books plus my own material to make sure lessons are varied and interactive.
I am happy to offer a discount if lessons are booked in blocks of more than 5 hours.
