I am currently a Neuroscience MSc student at King's College London and am a graduate of Biomedical Sciences from the University of Newcastle, where I was a medical student for two years before deciding to switch course. I've always found sciences to be absolutely fascinating and enjoy sharing my passion for them in a way that helps others build their understanding.

Tutoring Experience

I have been tutoring A-level and GCSE students for three years. In that time I have helped over 20 different students at varying levels and points on their courses to feel more confident in their understanding of subjects and feel better prepared for their exams. My support has consistently resulted in students achieving or exceeding their desired grades.

I also have experience running educational sessions on a broad range of topics for children aged between eight and 15 while volunteering as part of a youth movement. Prior to this I became involved in a mentoring programme which aimed to provide guidance to year seven students struggling with maths.

I really enjoy tutoring and always bring that enthusiasm to every lesson. The prospect of helping students not just understand the content, but also appreciate how interesting and amazing these subjects can be, gives me a sense of excitement and joy.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to tutoring is first and foremost student-orientated. Establishing teaching styles that do or do not suit a student is key to ensuring the time is used effectively. I believe that having a strong rapport with students and promoting open discussion is a key aspect in building confidence and engagement.

For any subject, forming strong foundational knowledge of the basic principles is the first step in understanding complicated topics. Creating a holistic foundation which guides a students' reasoning when faced with new information promotes a better comprehension of the ideas they are being taught. This prepares them better for exams and further study than rote memorisation.

In addition, I regard exam technique as a significant part of doing well at both GCSE and A-level, and therefore bring this into my lessons alongside content.
