Hello. My name is Dr. Zara Removed and I specialise in teaching Biology and Chemistry at A level and above. I hold a Ph.D. in medical biochemistry and a PGCHE from the University of Kent.
Having working as a research scientist for many years, I have both a theoretical and practical understanding of the sciences - this perspective is something my students find invaluable, as it helps them understand how science in the textbook links to everyday life and technological advances.
I come across as a friendly, patient and enthusiastic tutor. I make learning a fun and enjoyable experience, while always keeping the students goals in mind.
I have several years teaching experience at both undergraduate and post-graduate level, in addition, I have been tutoring for six years. I am an examiner for AQA, and have in the past marked papers for Edexcel. Based on this experience, I can offer students help on the best way to approach exams and help them understand what the exam board requires. Most of my students show rapid increase in confidence and school grades after 2-3 sessions of tutoring.
My aim is to motivate students to achieve the best of their abilities. I believe that all students can do well, turning negative barriers into positive outcomes. I am a strong believer in the individual potential of each student, and will do my best to help improve a student's grade, as long as they are willing to work with me.
In the first session, I go over the areas of difficulty with each student. My approach is to break down difficult-to-learn topics into bitesize achievable goals. I set goals for my tutees and plan my lessons well in advance. As we approach exams, I encourage students to practice mock papers and understand exam-board specific mark scheme requirements.
Please note that I charge slightly lower rates if the student opts to join at the start of the academic year (September). Please contact me for further details.
