I’m Xin, a Manchester-based Maths and Physics tutor with a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering and over 6 years of experience teaching at KS3, GCSE and A-Level.
I help students simplify difficult concepts, build confidence, and make real progress — whether they’re catching up, aiming for top grades, or preparing for competitive exams. Many of my students go on to achieve excellent results or receive offers from their first-choice schools.
My lessons are personalised, clear, and supportive. I also have experience working with SEND students, and always aim to create a space where learners feel encouraged and capable.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy coding, running, and team sports — which help me stay energetic and connect with students beyond the subject.
If you're looking for a tutor who is both academically strong and approachable, I’d love to support your child’s learning journey.
I have over five years of tutoring experience across KS3, GCSE, A-Level, and university foundation level. I specialise in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, and have worked with students preparing for a wide range of exams, including:
- GCSE and IGCSE (Higher Tier)
- A-Level and AS-Level
- Further Maths modules
- University-level Maths
- Maths competitions and entrance exams (UKMT, STEP, Oxbridge preparation)
I am familiar with all major UK and international exam boards, including AQA, Edexcel, OCR, and Cambridge International (CIE). I tailor content and practice to match each board’s style, ensuring students are well-prepared for both the syllabus and the mark schemes.
My students have varied goals – from moving up from a Grade 5 to a 7 at GCSE, to securing A*s and competitive university offers. I’m proud to support each learner’s individual journey, no matter where they start from.
My approach is student-centred, practical, and adaptable. I focus on building a strong understanding of key concepts, then developing the ability to apply them confidently in different contexts – especially in exam settings.
Lessons typically last 60 to 90 minutes and include:
- Clear explanations of key topics, using simple language and visual methods where helpful
- Interactive problem-solving, encouraging students to think aloud and explore ideas
- Exam-style practice, with guidance on technique and common pitfalls
- Concise notes and homework after each session to consolidate learning
I believe consistency, encouragement, and structured guidance are key to long-term progress. Whether a student is catching up or aiming for the top, I help them work at the right pace and grow in both confidence and independence.
