Start the new term strong.
With September just around the corner, now is the perfect time to review tricky topics, close knowledge gaps, and step into the new school year with confidence. Whether you need to consolidate summer learning or get ahead before classes begin, I can help you start the term prepared and motivated.
Hello! I’m Xin — a friendly and effective tutor with a PhD in Materials Science & Engineering from the University of Manchester. I specialise in Maths, Physics, Further Maths, and Chemistry at GCSE, A-Level, and university level.
With over 6 years of tutoring experience, I’ve helped students improve their grades by 1–3 levels, build confidence, and secure offers from top schools and universities including Cambridge, UCL, Imperial and leading Sixth Forms.
My lessons are clear, structured and supportive — always tailored to each student’s goals and learning style. I explain complex ideas in simple ways and genuinely care about each student’s progress.
I have over six years of tutoring experience across GCSE, A-Level, and university level. I specialise in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, and have worked with students preparing for a wide range of exams, including:
- GCSE and IGCSE (Higher Tier)
- A-Level and AS-Level
- Further Maths modules
- University-level Maths
- Maths competitions and entrance exams (UKMT, STEP, Oxbridge preparation)
I tailor content and practice to match each board’s style, ensuring students are well-prepared for both the syllabus and the mark schemes.
Many of my students see visible progress within just a few weeks. I'm particularly experienced in helping learners:
- Move up 1–2 grade levels within 8–10 lessons, especially in Maths and Physics
- Cover the full GCSE or A-Level syllabus efficiently in under 15 sessions for resit or fast-track students
- Sharpen exam technique and boost confidence for last-minute revision
My structured and focused approach ensures that even in a short time, students feel clearer, faster, and more in control of the subject.
Every student is different, so I always start with a short diagnostic or past paper review to identify strengths and areas for focus. I then create a personalised plan based on your goals and timeline.
Lessons are usually 60–90 minutes and include:
✔️ Clear, step-by-step explanations using diagrams, analogies, and everyday examples
✔️ Guided problem-solving with discussion and strategic questioning
✔️ Exam-style practice, including mark scheme techniques and time management
✔️ Homework & revision notes to reinforce learning between sessions
My teaching style is calm, encouraging and flexible — well-suited to students who may be struggling or lacking confidence, as well as high-achieving learners aiming for top grades or advanced material.
