Zoya

I try to take away the fear of learning.

I became a Doctor of Education in 2016, exploring how I can help to build confidence in learners of all ages, especially with maths and English. I also help people to develop life skills.

I work alongside anyone who needs the confidence to achieve academically. I have supported those on the autistic spectrum, those who may have a learning difficulty, or simply people of any age who struggle with learning.

My specialised background in supporting people of varying abilities, alongside my academic knowledge and my pastoral care, provides a unique approach to education.

I work with those who lack confidence in learning, as well as those on the autistic spectrum, or who have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, dyspraxia, Tourette’s syndrome, or those who may have a learning difficulty.

I have been a governor at Bournemouth University, supporting students with particular needs and helping some to develop confidence.

I was the educational consultant for St. Mary's Hospital in Warrington, for people with brain injuries and those on the autistic spectrum.

I am eclectic and practical, drawing on a wealth of hands-on and theoretical experience.

My Masters’ degree is in guidance and counselling, and resistance to learning.

Tutoring Approach

“Teach me and I will forget, show me and I will remember, involve me and I will understand.” Confucius

I use a variety of approaches to learning. I mix and match, according to individual need.

Before I begin any tutoring, I explore the best way a participant learns, discussing needs, and assessing and researching it before I deliver. I listen and respond to the ways in which individuals wants to be taught.

I encourage exploring a topic so that it can relate to daily living, but I am also happy to use traditional items - worksheets, drawing, writing, film clips – whatever the learner needs and wants.

I believe that any ability, when sensitively and appropriately channelled, can be developed to realise potential.
