Personal Description:

Melody is a passionate cellist celebrated for her expressive solo and chamber music performances. She completed a fully funded
MA degree at Trinity Laban Conservatoire and a funded Bachelor’s degree at the Royal College of Music.
Her recital highlights include appearances at St-Martin-in-the-Fields, St James’s Piccadilly, and the London Cello Society’s
concerts. A recipient of multiple awards, Melody won the Vera Kantrovitch Competition and the Leonard Smith & Felicity Young
Duo Competition.
She has toured internationally with ensembles like the Allegri Quartet and collaborates widely in chamber music. Melody works
regularly with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and has been freelancing with various professional orchestras, including a
trial position with The Hallé and a fellowship programme with Southbank Sinfonia.
As an educator, Melody teaches at several independent schools in Southwest London (Marymount International School, St James Ashford and Holy Cross Prep), guiding students to prestigious programs such
as the NYO, RCMJD and Junior Guildhall. She will be taking part of “Healthy Teachers webinar” hosted jointly by RSM and
BAPAM. She performs on a late-18th-century Klotz cello, supported by Professor Derek Aviss.

Tutoring Experience:

I teach quite a few students privately each week, and I really enjoy working with all of them. During the day, I divide my time into teaching and performing, where I teach in school weekly and other days I spend time playing in orchestra and chamber ensembles.
I consistently receive excellent feedback from students, whether they are learning exam syllabus or not. Here is the detail of my teaching experience:

* Taught Piano students from age 5 to 30, specialise in beginner/ intermediate tutoring
鋼琴學生年齡- 5歲到成人，初學到中級程度為主。

* Taught cello students from age 8 to 40, specialise in small group tutoring
大提琴學生年齡7歲到成人，一對一教學或是小團體為主。

* Most of students focus on playing instruments at good level, rather than exams. As the result, they all have good fundamental technique and end up getting Distinctions and Merit from the ABRSM exams.
大部分的學生都是專注在基本功 而不是為了考試而上課，所以當他們參與考試時，結果都非常理想。

* Preparing students for ABRSM Examinations, with a focus on preparation towards Grade 5 Theory
協助學生考級，也幫忙準備五級樂理考試

* Specialise in ABRSM sight-reading section, all students taken ABRSM have obtained distinction and merit in sight-reading section.
專注在準備試奏考試，大部分學生都有拿到Merit 跟 Distinction.

* Familiar with ABRSM and Suzuki Method
主要用鈴木教材以及皇家考級教材教學

Tutoring Approach:

I am a patient and friendly as a teacher, I always aim to work with student in relaxing atmosphere, as I have been teaching young aged students, as well as adult students. I specialise in ABRSM sight-reading section, where most of the teacher spend most of the lesson time on exam pieces and scales. There are some students only taking lessons on sight-reading with me, and all of them have obtained distinction and merit in ABRSM sight-reading section.

I mainly teach at home, near St Margarets London, with possibility to travel to nearby students.
