Born in Iraq, was educated to university level in Basrah in 1977. Served my National service between 1977-1979. Arrived to the UK in 1980. I studied English for six months in London. Continued my post graduate studies and got my British nationality in 1991. Married and settled and continued to live in the UK till now. I work as a telephone interpreter from home, Mon-Fri, 9-5 for the last eight years.
I took my children to an Arabic school in London. The headteacher suggested I do some voluntary work and I did teach one class Arabic and Quran studies. Also I had some private adult students from Pakistan and Africa. Also ESOL teacher assistant with another teacher in another school.
Usually the tutee will discuss with me what do they want to prepare. Adult tutees usually know what they want as they took some previous courses and bring their books and notebooks. Whatever is your level I can help with most aspects of the language. Or we can start from scratch.
