I have a robust mathematical background, having studied GCSE Mathematics, GCSE Statistics, Level 2 Numeracy, A-level Mathematics, and A-level Further Mathematics, culminating in a First-Class Honours degree in Mathematics. I have also completed a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Management from the University of Nottingham, gaining a distinction. Alongside my academic qualifications, I am a dedicated educator with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a PGCE. Currently, I teach mathematics at various levels, bringing both passion and expertise to the classroom.
In my pursuit of holistic education, I have also earned several specialised qualifications, including Level 2 certifications in Understanding Autism, Principles of Working with People with Learning Disabilities, Counselling Skills, and Understanding Mental Health Conditions. Additionally, I hold a certification in Teaching in English in Multilingual Classrooms (Lexis Education). These qualifications reflect my commitment to understanding and supporting the diverse needs of my students. My continuous professional development is driven by a genuine desire to better understand and support each individual student, ensuring that I can provide the best possible learning experience for all.
I bring a wealth of experience from teaching in a diverse range of educational settings, including comprehensive, grammar, and independent schools. Currently, I serve as a mathematics teacher for students aged 11-18, specialising in iGCSE and A-level maths curricula. My teaching repertoire includes a broad spectrum of qualifications: I have taught GCSE Mathematics across two different specifications, GCSE Statistics, iGCSE Mathematics across three specifications, A-level Mathematics across two specifications, and IB Mathematics across two specifications. Additionally, I am an Edexcel GCSE examiner, consistently achieving 'exceeding expectations' ratings, and an IB examiner, which has further deepened my understanding of assessment standards and best practices in mathematics education.
My tutoring approach is student-centered and flexible, focused on empowering students to identify and articulate their own learning needs. I recognise that each student is unique—some know exactly what they need from the start, while others may require guidance to uncover their strengths and areas for improvement. Rather than imposing a one-size-fits-all method, I collaborate with students to tailor both the content and delivery of our sessions, ensuring that the learning experience aligns with their individual preferences and goals. Homework is optional and can be adjusted based on what the student feels is most beneficial to their progress.
