I am a self motivated person who enjoys working with children and young people of all genders, ages and backgrounds.I believe children and young people are the future, therefore the personal and educational development of children and young people I would maintain to be especially important.
I have a first class psychology degree and over 12 years of experience working with children and young people in education. This includes a track record of continually improving self-esteem, academic grades, confidence and behaviour amongst youth in various educational settings. This is also enhanced by over six years experience successfully creating and implementing personal development workshops as well as behavioural workshops for teenagers.
I thrive under pressure and I am happy to accept any new challenges. I am easy to get along with and have excellent communication skills. I am also punctual and reliable. Through the experience I have gained from my jobs I have gained excellent communication skills which I think is a characteristic essential, for a job which involves working with children and young people. Moreover, I am a friendly outgoing person who gets on with people well, which I think is vital in a job where I would be interacting with parents and pupils. My experience to date has given me a better understanding of children and young people’s needs and my drive and ambition would ensure I would be a great tutor for your child!
I have been doing private tuition for over 10 years. I teach psychology, religious studies, English literature, study skills, ethics and philosophy. Being a private tutor has allowed me to see the personal and educational development of several pupils. One pupil in particular I tutored, during the Covid- 19 pandemic needed an A in psychology to receive a scholarship to a university in America. When I met her she had recently obtained a C in her mock. By supporting her for around 3 months she achieved an A and she was able to go to the university that she wanted. Aside from doing private tuition, I have a substantial amount of experience in helping young people improve their grades. I have been an assistant director for a maths and English tuition centre. I have also worked in numerous secondary schools as an academic and behaviour mentor.
My experience is not limited to the UK as I have even taught English in Spain. I was responsible for two classes of 12 children. I had to plan lessons which included vocabulary and grammar points which would challenge the children. Additionally, I was expected to mark classwork as well as write exams and reports.
My approach to personal tuition encompasses a range of strategies, but above all I aim to provide you with a tailored programme that is best suited to your child's individual needs. I always teach in a way that enables the tutee to learn in a fun and interactive manner, whilst also stimulating their mind and making sure they achieve their potential. I would provide assistance across the full spectrum of age and ability, from those facing particular challenges with their learning to assisting gifted students seeking to extend their studies. I have worked with children who have varying abilities (gifted and talented, autism, dyslexia, sight problems and English as an additional language).
