I have a very strong background in chemistry having achieved a MSc and a PhD in chemistry. I am passionate about my subject which is why I do not teach any other subjects.
I live in Pinner with my family and three parrots. I am a fitness enthusiast and love to keep fit. I believe that to have a sound mind, you need a sound body and that taking care of both are equally important.
I have been teaching chemistry for over 25 years in the UK and at international schools.During this time, I've taught at all secondary levels (KS4 & 5) specialising in OCR, AQA and Edexcel examination boards. I'm also experienced in teaching practical examinations such as the ISA's, Working Scientifically and How Science Works.
I am currently a chemistry lecturer in a sixth form college in north-west London and teach A-level and GCSE classes. I have a proven track record of successful teaching (references available on request). I have been been tutoring A-level students successfully for the past three years with 100% achieving high grades at A2.
After 25 years of teaching chemistry, I believe that the traditional method works best for students and this helps them achieve the grades they want. This is not to say that I do not use active learning but I believe that a sensible combination of both will help to bring out the best in the student. My teaching is mostly exam-based and I use lots of past papers to help develop students' confidence to apply knowledge and skills under examination conditions.
